The trio, who all trained through  the Keith Graham Academy, were then joined at the beginning of this year by two more stylists Louise Steele and Sammy Stevens.

The team will attend the red carpet event at the International Convention Centre Birmingham on June 1.

Shoreline Partners

Shoreline Partners co-founder Vivienne Rose will retire from the business in April.

Vivienne has been instrumental in delivering the inclusive and accessible model that is at the heart of the Shoreline Partnership’s approach to business, showcasing the talents of local artists, makers and creatives.

The business was conceived in 2019 by Sarah Gibbon and Vivienne after they left their jobs in London for more relaxed and creative lives by the seaside.

Since then Vivienne has contributed to Shoreline’s reputation for running friendly, artist-focused and successful retail art galleries in Margate and Westgate-on-Sea.

Last year she decided that she wanted to spend more time with her husband Dave and their grandchildren, and to explore other interests. The couple in Westbrook and are already involved with a number of community and charity projects.

Sarah said: “We will all miss Vivienne enormously but she has earned this well-deserved retirement and we are sending her off with our love, gratitude and all best wishes for her next adventure in life.”

Sarah will continue to run the business and the two galleries, with the Shoreline support team already based at Westgate Galleria.

The doors of Westgate Galleria and The Eclectic Art Gallery in Margate will be closed for a few days at the end of April, to redecorate them both in time for the Summer season, but it’s otherwise business-as-usual.

Sarah said: “We want to assure all our valued clients and customers that this transition will not impact on our day-to-day operations and we are committed to providing the same level of exceptional customer service and unique, beautiful arts, crafts and locally-made products that you have come to expect from us.”

Vivienne’s last working day is April 5 and all are warmly invited to pop into Westgate Galleria (29 Station Road) during her last week to say goodbye.

Angela’s Swim School

Swim school owner Angela Wilson, who competed in the European, World and Commonwealth Games, has brought her swimming lessons to Ramsgate.

Angela has swum at some of the highest levels and was selected for Team GB at 15. She was inspired by her a mum who also swum for Team GB, and her dream after competing finished was to build a successful business that benefits others around the sport she loves.

Now with lessons in 28 pools across London and five counties, and with 100+ instructors teaching her methods, Angela’s Swim School lessons for children and adults are being held two-nights a week at St Lawrence College in Ramsgate. This adds to her East Kent lessons currently held in Whitstable.

Angela said: “It’s so important to help as many children as possible learn to swim properly and appreciate the potential lifesaving skill swimming is. Learn to swim well over distance means you get to enjoy an all-over body workout that can save your life if you ever get into difficulty.”

Angela says with her swimming lessons children learn correct strokes, good body position and how to breathe correctly. This starts with getting babies used to the water from four months old.

Among the thousands of children who have learnt to swim using Angela’s methods she taught brothers Joe and Henry Choong. Joe has gone on to win Olympic Gold and when the tournament comes to Paris this summer his brother Henry hopes to also be part of Team GB’s Modern Pentathlon team.

Plan Burrito

Plan Burrito in Ramsgate High Street will be looking to employ more staff this Summer.

The food franchise, which opened last year, is based at the Kids Bright House soft play site run by Shereen Khalid and mum Jennifer.

Shereen says trade has been busy and she expects to need additional staff at Plan Burrito and the soft play centre.

She said: “At the moment we have eight staff and in holiday periods we will be hoping to have five more.

“It has been lovely and busy, customers are loving it and say they are glad someone has opened something different in Thanet with good quality food at affordable prices.

“Children love our Jungle Boxes which include baby burritos and they get free tasters as children can be fussy. This goes well with the play area instead of the typical chicken nuggets and chips.

“We offer party packages with Jungle Boxes for children’s parties at Kids Bright House as well as well as other party packages.”

In Plan Burrito tasters are on offer for those who may be new to Mexican food. Shereen said: “Some people think Mexican is just spices but it’s all pretty tasty and full of flavour and can be as hot or mild as customers like depending on the sauce /salsa they choose.”

The business also offers discounts for other businesses such as Ramsgate community cinema and  NHS blue light card holders, students and Ramsgate sea cadets get 10% off.

Shereen said: “We are hoping to go to football clubs and schools and hopefully do more promotions.”

Plan Burrito founder Stephen Hopper said: “A special thanks to Shereen, the franchise owner of the Ramsgate store, and all of her team for providing a great service.

“Plan Burrito values each and every customer and we thank all of them for their loyal custom. Plan Burrito is nothing without them and we hope to be a staple in their community for many years to come.

“Our neighbouring store in Canterbury is seeing equal levels of excitement for our offering and we will soon be welcoming our third Kent store in Gillingham.”

The lease for all eight shelters will be £8,000 each year, for up to 10 years. The council is proposing that the first two years will be rent free, to help with refurbishment and fit-out.
