Roaring start to new term at Northdown Primary School

Dinosaur fun at Northdown Primary

Youngsters in Northdown Primary School’s Nursery and Reception classes made a roaring start to the new term this week with a dinosaur-themed workshop.

To kick-start their new topic on dinosaurs, the Margate pupils watched in awe as they came face to face with “real” dinosaurs in their school hall.

The life-like puppets were met with both joy and a little nervousness at first as children were allowed to approach and stroke them.

The young palaeontologists also had the chance to excavate fossils from sand – a role they took very seriously as they explored the prehistoric creatures.

Over the half term break, pupils and their families had been given the challenge of creating dinosaur-inspired dioramas.

Charlotte Filmer,  Early Years Foundation Stage Lead, was thrilled with the results, saying: “The models that the children and their parents made were fantastic.

“Seeing the team work that had gone into them was lovely and our pupils have loved looking at all the small details in the creations.”
