Interactive safety event for St Joseph’s children

Interactive event at St Joseph'e primary

Year 6 children from St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Broadstairs have spent a very interesting morning at a ‘Safety in Action’ event run by SALUS – an organisation which aims to improve life for children.

Among the services delivering the interactive safety event were Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Coastguard and Community Wardens.

The children completed tasks about communication, what to do in case of fire, personal space, making friends, electrical and road safety, risk taking, smoking, drugs and alcohol -all vital information before making the exciting and sometimes challenging transition to secondary school.

Year 6 teacher Mrs Osborne said: “With a greater awareness it will enable our children to become more independent and know how to protect themselves from the risks associated with everyday life.”
