Man charged with offences including assault of two police officers in Margate

A man has been charged  in connection with the assault of two police officers in Margate.

During the afternoon of Sunday 14 January, Kent Police was called to a report of a man causing a disturbance in Cecil Square. Town beat officers who were on patrol in the area arrested a man in connection with the report.

Following an investigation by Thanet’s Victim Based Crime Team, William Winsbury, 40, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker, a public order offence against a police officer, harassment and attempted criminal damage.

He was remanded to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 16 January.
