Invite to join Thanet Roadrunners free ‘Couch to 5k’ programme

Thanet Roadrunners

Thanet Roadrunners ‘Couch to 5k’ programme will be returning again this year.

Based in Broadstairs, the NHS endorsed Couch to 5K starts on Monday 8th January outside The Charles Dickens Public House, Victoria Parade, Broadstairs at 6.30pm.

The first few weeks will start with a gentle warm-up, then several short but brisk walks and very steadily build over 9 weeks to a 5k jog/run.

The C25K group will run every Monday and Wednesday evening for 9 weeks, graduation on Saturday 9th March, when all members will run the Pegwell Bay Parkrun together.

Female and male England Athletics qualified leaders will support each step of the way, encouraging and coaching.

C25k needs you to walk/jog/run three times a week.  Those taking part are encouraged  to arrange a third run with others of similar ability within the C25k group, often at the weekend.

It’s not just about getting fit, but also sharing the journey to fitness with others and making great friends with a shared motivation.

If you miss a session due to shift work or family demands, you can use the NHS app to catch up.

Thanet Roadrunners say: “Thanet Roadrunners are Thanet’s largest community running club.  We’re passionate about running, but also a great bunch of friends with a shared interest.

“There is much more to life than running, but with such a beautiful coastline and fantastic trails and paths to run along we can’t think of much!  We simply want to share our passion with others.”

Self discipline, determination and a pair of running shoes are the only requirements.  The C25K is completely free.

Runners are also asked to use the free England Athletics App RunTogether.  You can register free here.
