Man due in court charged with £2k shoplifting haul from Thanet shops

A man is to appear in court charged with stealing more than £2,000 worth of goods from Thanet shops.

On Tuesday 19 December, Margate’s neighbourhood officers were made aware that a large selection of cosmetics and other items had been put into a basket and taken from a High Street shop without the person making any attempt to pay for them. The total value of the goods was £1,982.

Officers reviewed the shop’s CCTV and identified a possible suspect.

Further enquiries led to officers making an arrest yesterday 9December 21) while on foot patrol in The Centre near the High Street in Margate.

Karl Brazier-Denning was charged with two counts of shoplifting, the second charge relating to a report of between £30-£50 worth of meat stolen from the Co-op in Broadstairs on Wednesday 29 November.

The 29-year-old, of no fixed address, was due to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today (December 22).
