Arrests on suspicion of burglary following overnight ‘stand-off’ at Manston industrial building

Three men have been arrested following a reported break-in at an industrial building in Manston.

Police and fire crews attended the incident in Columbus Avenue shortly after 9pm.

A witness said a stand-off followed with two of the men climbing on to the roof, resulting in some 12 police units and negotiators plus, at 4.44am, Kent Fire and Rescue being called in to assist. It’s understood the stand-off ended at around 6am.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to called to assist Kent Police in Columbus Avenue, in Manston, Ramsgate, at 4.44am today. Two fire engines and a height vehicle attended.”

A Kent Police spokesperson added: “Kent Police attended following a report of a break-in at an industrial site in Columbus Avenue, Manston shortly after 9pm on Sunday 10 December.

“Three men were arrested on suspicion of burglary and remain in custody while enquiries continue.”
