Dane Court Grammar School celebrates opening of new sixth form centre

The 6th form centre at Dane Court

Dane Court Grammar School hosted the Mayor of Broadstairs & St. Peter’s, Councillor Kristian Bright, and Councillor Joanne Bright yesterday [ November 29 ] as they officially opened the school’s new sixth form centre.

The construction of the sixth form centre began in July and over the course of the summer, dedicated site teams and contractors worked to transform the space into a modern, inviting, and functional area tailored specifically to meet the needs of sixth form students.

The centre has a range of amenities including a quiet study area, a vibrant social space, and a catering hub operated by Harrison Catering Services, which offers a variety of hot and cold drinks and delicious food options.

During the opening ceremony, Cllr Kristian Bright, reminisced about his own experiences in sixth form and expressed his admiration for the facility now available to Dane Court Grammar School students.

The event included speeches from the school’s headteacher, Mr Jones, who highlighted the significance of the new addition to the school, and Max, a member of the head student team, who spoke on behalf of the whole sixth form, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in taking the initial concepts and bringing them to life.

In a short musical interlude, two talented year 11 students, Oliver and Zeb, treated the audience to a piano duet – a medley from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite – a piece which has recently seen them progress to the district stage of the Kent and Medway Grammar School piano competition.
