Cinderella brings Christmas fun to Northdown Primary School

Cinderella at Northdown Primary School

Christmas kicked off in style at Northdown Primary last week with a travelling theatre company visiting the Margate school to put on a toe-tapping, fun-filled production of the classic pantomime Cinderella.

The whole school, from the youngest pupils in nursery to the oldest children in Year 6, filed excitedly into the school hall to witness Cinderella battle against her evil stepsisters.

Marvelling at scenery and singing along to chart-topping pop songs, the pupils were transfixed for an hour as Cinderella overcame obstacles to meet her prince. Perhaps the star of the show though was the cuddly little rat who treated the audience to jokes and joined in the fast-paced action that culminated in an energetic finale.

Headteacher Matthew Harris said: “We wanted to bring some Christmas spirit into school so treated all the children to a traditional pantomime. Seeing all the wonderful acting and singing, our youngest pupils in the nursery and Reception classes have been inspired in their rehearsals for their upcoming production, The Wriggly Nativity, which they will perform to parents and carers towards the end of term.”
