St Gregory’s Primary children make food bank donations

Donations from St Gregory's families

Needy families in the Margate area are being supported by food donations from caring children and families at St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School, Margate.

As part of the school’s harvest festival celebrations, a variety of packet and tinned foods have been collected and these will be distributed to those facing hard times.

Head Teacher Dave Walker said the school ‘really came together’ to collect the donations for those less fortunate than ourselves.

He added: “This food goes to our local food bank and when it was collected we were told that they now have more than 100 families regularly using the resource because they cannot afford the cost of food.

“The whole country is going through a tough time and I think that it’s great that we are able to help, even in a small way.”

St Gregory’s is a keen supporter of charity appeals and events locally, regionally and nationally.

The school celebrated a Harvest Mass led by Father Ted, Parish Priest of SS Austin and Gregory’s Church, during which pupils led the readings and prayers. Parents also attended to support the occasion.
