Ursuline College students gain places on Sir Matthew Bourne’s Cygnet School dance programme

Martha and Eliza have won places on the Cygnet School dance programme

Two students at Ursuline College in Westgate are celebrating after landing coveted places at the Sir Matthew Bourne’s Cygnet School.

Martha Prince ,14, and 12-year-old Eliza Chick won two of just three open places after displaying their dancing and performance skills.

Martha trains under Jo Johnstone at Thanet Stage School of Dance and Drama, and Eliza trains under Laura Icke at Page Mason School of Dance and Drama.

Cygnet School is a pre-vocational programme for young people who are passionate about dance, allowing them to develop their skills, work with a range of dance professionals and explore dance as a possible career pathway.

It is fully subsidised for all the participants, ensuring there are no barriers to accessing the programme. The scheme first launched in July 2021.
