Thanet council’s Community Safety Partnership is holding its first Park Life event, focused on supporting young people across the district.

Park Life brings together a wide range of local support services, where young people aged 11 to 25 can get free, confidential advice, all in one place.

There will be agencies offering young people advice and support on personal safety, drug and alcohol use, sexual and mental health, in addition to careers advice, counselling and more. Local sports groups will be offering free taster sessions including American football, pickleball, football and skateboarding.

The free event is taking place in Ellington Park in Ramsgate on Wednesday 25 October, between 11am and 3pm.

Cllr Heather Keen, Cabinet Member for Community Safety and Youth Engagement, said: “Our young people are such an important part of our community, but they do not always know how or where to ask for help. There is so much advice out there for young people, and this event brings it all together in a friendly setting. Families are welcome to attend too – there will be something there for everyone.”

Members of the Thanet Youth Council, formed in November 2022, will be attending the event. They will be telling residents about the positive work that they do, and encouraging more young people to join the Youth Council by promoting the positive benefits such as building confidence and participating in the local community.

Youth councillors will be asking young people to fill out a specially designed survey, to find out what is most important to them. The results of the survey will be used to inform the Youth Council’s future projects.
