East 17 announced as headliner for Westwood Cross Christmas light switch-on event

Westwood Cross has announced ‘boy’ band East 17 will headline the Christmas light switch-on event on Friday, November 17.

The free event will feature special guests plus a line up of tribute act performances through the decades. This year sees the return of East 17, consisting of Terry Coldwell, Robbie Craig and Joe Livermore ,who entertained thousands of visitors in 2022 and performed their classic Christmas hit, ‘Stay Another Day’.

Pantomime stars and tribute acts such as Elton John and Ed Sheeran, will also be at the event which will be hosted in collaboration with Academy FM and Stagecoach.

It will include a festive charity procession led by Father Christmas and Joey the Elf – even the Grinch will make an appearance! The event will be raising money for the centre’s charities of the year, First St Laurence Scouts and mental health charity, Mind.

Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager at Westwood Cross, said: “We’re building on the incredible success of our light switch on event last year, bringing back acts loved by our community. We’ve already started our countdown to Christmas – and we can’t wait to see you all there.”

Westwood Cross will be celebrating the beginning of the festive season from 4pm-7pm on Friday 17 November, with Father Christmas set to switch on the Christmas lights at 6pm. Enjoy music and entertainment as well as the unveiling of the centre’s favourite Christmas lights, which will include a giant teddy bear, a feature reindeer, and a walk-through bauble.
