A bright warm day at the WW Martin community stadium for the battle of the islands Ramsgate Isle of Thanet, host Sheppey United of the Isle of Sheppey for another FA trophy 3rd round qualifier.

Sheppey start the game much the quicker shutting down Ramsgate’s attempts to play, It’s Sheppey with the first attack pushing down their right forcing Rams on the defensive, a fantastic low hard shot from Oscar Housego has Tom Hadler saving superbly to push the ball out for an early corner, Rams clear to the edge of the box and a shot is fired in forcing Hadler to tip over his crossbar.

Sheppey create some more good opportunities with balls into the box but lacking the deadly finishing touch, Hadler in the Rams goal has certainly been the busier of the keepers with some excellent low saves as Sheppey continue to press. Ramsgate are struggling to keep with them but stout defending with Joe Elull marshalling the back line.

Joe Taylor gets his first opportunity as he turns in the box and goes down under pressure from Aiden Prail in the Sheppey goal the appeals for a penalty are waved away.

Thirty third sees Rams first real foray forward, hitting a long ball out wide to Jack Parter who plays into the box Joe Taylor holds the ball up lays it off, a couple of shots coming in from Mike West & Lee Martin are blocked, at least Rams are now showing some intent and are starting to play.

Taylor is put through thirty seventh he tries to round the on rushing Prail who’s pace takes him through Taylor this occasion a penalty kick is awarded, Taylor picks himself and the ball up he lines up hits a low shot to Prail’s left and slots just under the keeper to open the scoring.

Sheppey still looking the more attacking of the two sides as we approach half-time, having a couple of chances going down the right crossing into the danger zone but Rams staying firm keeping them out. Just before the whistle goes an attack down the left by Sheppey a cross come shot that Hadler is pleased to see drift just wide.

Elull picks up a knock and is replaced just before the half ends by Dan Johnson.

Second half is underway and whatever Ben Smith said to the Rams at half time, they have come out a different side shutting Sheppey down and pressing forward from the off and creating a few good opportunities.

Fifty third Benny Bioletti is subbed for Medy Elito, who makes an immediate impact as he slots into the midfield the team moving the ball much quicker now with slick passing.

Rams with some exceptional play as the forward line link up ball in from the right to Taylor swiftly switched to Alfie Paxman but with three defenders surround him quickly to crowd him out.

Sixty second a Bode Anidugbe powerhouse of a shot is too hot for Prail to hold & Elito following up beats the keeper to the rebound to hit the back of the net for Rams second.

Rams really are turning on the style now fast play as the they go into rampant attack mode, they open Sheppey up with a ball played at pace toward Taylor with his back to goal flicks the ball with the outside of his foot on to Alfie Paxman, takes a couple of paces and crosses into the danger area Elito is ghosting in unmarked and slams the ball home.

A fantastic fifteen-minute spell for the Rams is rounded off by a venomous shot from all of thirty-five yards as Anidugbe smashes in a wonder strike, skimming the playing surface all the way and beating Prail for pace as the ball nestles in the right corner of the net for Rams fourth.

Rams seem to switch off with the job all but done, allowing a late consolation goal for Sheppey as Danny Leonard is allowed to wriggle through evading Rams challenges to slot home in the eightieth.

Rams come under a little pressure as Olodipo Durowoju breaks through and is scythed down by Christie Sinnkaye giving Sheppey a late free kick on the edge of the box, the Rams wall holds firm and blocks the shot form Maliq Morris.

Rams convincing victory in the end.
