Ramsgate’s Wilko store confirmed for closure next week

Wilko in Ramsgate

Ramsgate’s Wilko store will shut on September 25, administrators PwC have confirmed.

It is among more than 100 stores that will shut down for good next week.

Wilko went into administration on August 10.

A deal has been agreed which will retain the Wilko name with The Range agreeing to buy the brand, website and Intellectual Property. It does not include any physical stores.

A deal by administrators with Pepco Group, and one already reached with B&M, has been made for 122 Wilko properties although they will shut before the sites are taken over. Neither of the Thanet sites were included.

The Westwood Cross branch closed on September 12. All 400 Wilko sites will be closed down by early October.

  1. Independent shops is the way forward , you can no longer rely on big name brands . Perhaps redevelop the old Wilko building and demolish the hideous multi story car park !

  2. And to think they are closing the Jobcentre next door to it as well-Queen’s House round the corner will be busy.
