Margate man arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft and racially aggravated public order

A 35-year-old Margate man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a vehicle and suspicion of causing a racially-aggravated public order offence following a report to police in the early hours of this morning (September 14).

Kent Police was called to Milton Avenue to a report that attempts were being made to steal a car in Margate just before 1am.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Local response officers, who were on patrol nearby, quickly attended the Milton Avenue area and arrested a man within three minutes of the call being received.

“The 35-year-old man from Margate was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft of a vehicle. He was further arrested on suspicion of causing a racially-aggravated public order offence while being transported to custody.

“He has been released on bailed pending further enquiries.”
