Police were called to Birchington’s ‘high street’ area yesterday (August 29) over a man causing a disturbance.

Bystanders report a struggle then took place with police officers having to restrain a man following the call out at 3.15pm.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a disturbance in The Square, Birchington, on Tuesday 29 August at around 3.15pm.

“Officers attended the area where they located a 37-year-old man in the high street who was arrested on suspicion of common assault. He has since been released on police bail.”

    • high street area, lower case, it is a description not a road name. The police quote is what it is, can’t do much about that. I’m aware that it is Station Road but police were first called to The Square and then made the arrest in the shopping area
