GCSE 2023: Celebrating ‘excellent’ results at King Ethelbert School

Results day at King Ethelbert School

Students at King Ethelbert School are celebrating excellent results this year, with an increase in top grades, contrary to the national picture of fewer of the highest grades being awarded.

Some 61% of students achieved a standard pass in both English and maths, the highest figure ever achieved at the school. There was also an increase in the percentage of students gaining a strong pass in English and maths and in the overall average grade achieved by all students (also known as Attainment 8).

There were some superb individual results including:

Mahammad Ahmad achieving nine grades at grade 7-9, with a grade 9 (the top grade possible) in Science.

Will Bush gained a grade 9 in English Language and citizenship, plus another six at grade 7 or above.

Dexter Harris and Lewis Beldin were both awarded six grades at 7-9

Rhianna Cowell gained five grades at the same level, including a grade 9 in English Language.

Headteacher Tom Sellen said: “The school looks forward to welcoming a record number of students, both existing and ‘new’,  to the sixth form to start year 12 in September.

“We are excited for them to experience our brand new dedicated sixth form area and to continue their success with us at King Ethelbert School. We also wish all of our students the best as they move forward in their future endeavours.”
