It’s been a bumper weekend of music in Margate as acts took to the stage for the soul festival and Happy Mondays and Primal Scream gigged at Dreamland.
Mad Yella and Samm Henshaw, Josh Milan were headliners for the soul fest which is now in its 21st year,
The festival this year is based at Dreamland and other spots including the Victoria Hotel, Olby’s, the Imperial Bar and Sundeck, Leroy Burgess headlines tonight’s closing party at Dreamland.
Streets, Wig & Pen, Barnacles and Lighthouse are free entry to see acts.
Sundeck, Olby’s, Imperial, Victoria Hotel and Dreamland are all wristband venues.
Primal Scream were joined by the iconic Happy Mondays on the Scenic Stage last night (August 5).
With a musical legacy spanning 35 years, Primal Scream has delivered era-defining albums from ‘Screamadelica’ to ‘Riot City Blues’. The band, formed by frontman Bobbie Gillespie, has created their own unique sound spanning everything from psychedelic pop to degenerate rock’n’roll; euphoric rave to industrial gloom.
Happy Mondays, and of course Bez, are known as one of the most influential bands of the 80s and 90s. Acid house, funk, psychedelia and indie collided and with that, the Happy Mondays became an important part of Manchester’s music scene.
Yes it’s a great weekend it’s a pity when families come all the way to Margate to go into Dreamland Alrough the performances are in the evening they can’t get into the fairground site during the day the next thing they will say the park wasn’t making any money Alrough they are making thousands of pounds on concert venues maybe the money they got from the town deal should be returned as it is tax payers money anyway.
Dreamland amusement park is probably loss making yes, a heritage park as lovely as it is can’t compete with the likes of Alton Towers etc. Since operating over the last 8 years or so Dreamland has worked out that events make money because of advance bookings. Good business if you ask me. Also the Town Deal money isn’t available for events or the rides, it’s just for the renovation of the cinema. Don’t you want the cinema to reopen?
You can go in during the day from 10-4
Don’t know where u got your info from its quite clearly stated on the dreamland website .
