Police appeal over bag theft attempt in Margate

Detectives investigating a report of a bag being stolen in Margate have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

At around 9.30pm on Tuesday 25 July, a man reportedly approached a car in Station Road and stole a bag from inside.

The driver of the car attempted to drive away and collided with a number of parked cars, before members of the public became involved and the bag was recovered.

The man who stole the bag is then reported to have got into a silver Mercedes, which was driven away from the scene.

The suspect is described as Eastern European, around 5ft 2ins tall, with short greying hair. He was wearing a denim jacket and brown trousers. He is thought to have suffered an ankle injury during the incident.
