Detectives investigating a report of a bag being stolen in Margate have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
At around 9.30pm on Tuesday 25 July, a man reportedly approached a car in Station Road and stole a bag from inside.
The driver of the car attempted to drive away and collided with a number of parked cars, before members of the public became involved and the bag was recovered.
The man who stole the bag is then reported to have got into a silver Mercedes, which was driven away from the scene.
The suspect is described as Eastern European, around 5ft 2ins tall, with short greying hair. He was wearing a denim jacket and brown trousers. He is thought to have suffered an ankle injury during the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to speak to police, or who has any other information, is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/133259/23.
You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or complete the online form on their website.
i wonder if this thief of eastern european brought the silver mercedes with him when he entered england ? i think we know the answer to that dont we .
You can’t say that! These people are a blessing to the area.
Although I agree there are some decent people from Europe over here I have to say the amount suspect reports that are described as Eastern European or of foreign sounding names that keep popping up on our local crime reports is getting ridiculous. We have enough chancers around anyway so the issue does need to be dealt with.
not sure if that was a reply to me, Maria. However, my original comment was satire.
And how do you propose we deal with all these people with foreign-sounding names, out of interest?
With deportation orders (you’re welcome)
I’m making stickers for my (very few) valuable items: ‘Please DO NOT nick me unless you can trace your English ancestry back to before the Norman Conquest. Thank you.’
Will the stickers be in several languages, Carina?
