A Summer ‘open week’ is taking place at The Margate School in the High Street.

Starting today (15 July), The Margate School is hosting a week of activities for those that wish to know more about TMS, its courses, tutors and community.

During the Meet the Tutor and Portfolio Review days on Saturday 15 and Saturday 22 July, people will have the opportunity to meet the academic staff and hear about their practice as well as the postgraduate courses available at TMS. These include the European Fine Art Masters, Visual Communication, Sound Arts and The Still & Moving Image. In the afternoon there is the option to book a one-to-one portfolio review session with a specific tutor who relates to your personal practice for guidance and advice.

Each course is devised and delivered by experts in their field to equip students to develop a sustainable creative practice through a combination of teaching, guiding and supporting each student to become a critically minded contributing member of the community with the confidence and skills to pursue your creative ambitions.

Applications are currently open to each of the courses and are encouraged from those who either have a BA (Hons) or relevant experience in the field. TMS also firmly believes that your financial situation should not be a barrier to education and encourage contact and confidential discussion about how we can assist you.

From Monday 17 to Friday 21 July there are bookable workshops led by members of the TMS community, including ceramics, printing, bioplastics and oral histories, which will run alongside tours of the building and the opportunity to discuss the courses and your options with the academic coordinator, tutors and other staff.

The culmination of the week on Saturday 22 July will be Antiphone, where visitors will be able to join the current Sound Arts students for a late afternoon and evening of Sonic Exploration, with a Listening Post, Sonic Walk and Sonic workshop.
