Eager new starter Reception children head to teddy bears’ picnic at Northdown Primary

Teddy bears' picnic at Northdown Primary

Teddy bears and young children were among the guests at Northdown Primary School last week.

Excited yet a bit nervous, the new starters at Northdown Primary School, Margate, headed into the Early Years provision for a teddy bears’ picnic followed by a play and stay session.

The staff and leadership team at Northdown welcomed the children and their families who had a lovely time listening to headteacher Mr Harris talk about the experiences the children will be part of next academic year.

After the meeting, the children received a packed goodie bag which had a pencil case with pencils, rubber and glue as well as a reading book, phonic cards and lots more to help them settle into life in the Northdown family.

Charlotte Filmer, Early Years Foundation Stage Lead, said: “The children had a fantastic morning exploring the Reception classrooms and outside area where they made bubbles using bottles and hoops, explored water play with foam and became builders for the morning in the construction area!”
