Chilton pupils enjoy competitive fun at Summer sports days

Sports Day fun at Chilton

Chilton Primary School’s annual summer sports days were a hive of enthusiastic activity, competition and fun.

Pupils of all age groups were involved in the events that were held on the playing field across two days – Early Years and Key Stage 1 on one day, the Key Stage 2 competitions on another.

A variety of activities were popular with participants and spectators and included space hopper races, the sponge and bucket race, go-karts, tug-of-war, long jump, javelin, as well as running competitions to find the fastest pupil in each year group.

Each competitor was trying to gain points for their ‘house’ team – Red Romans, Green Normans, Blue Vikings and Yellow Saxons.

After two days of determined and enthusiastic the Chilton sports supreme team for summer 2023 were Red Romans with a whopping 640 points.

At the end of the each sports day six children were honoured for displaying one of these Chilton sporting values – honesty, teamwork, determination, self-belief, respect and passion.

There were also two overall sports personality honours that went to Eren in Year 2 and Emily in Year 4.

Head of School/Director of Education Kate Law said: “Chilton enjoyed two competitive and fun sports days. Congratulations go to all our competitors and to our staff who organised and oversaw the events.

“Our competitors showed a real passion to do well for their houses and support their team mates, as well as celebrating the success of all our participants across the board. It was fantastic illustration of the strength of our Chilton community and was a lovely summer event for all age groups.”
