Police investigate after beach hut break-ins in Broadstairs

Police are investigation after 15 beach huts were broken into at Louisa Bay in Broadstairs at the weekend.

The majority of the affected huts are looked after by Your Leisure but some private huts were also affected. One beach hut at Viking Bay was also targeted and today (July 10) there is a report of break-ins at eight huts on Stone Bay.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was contacted on the morning of Saturday 8 July and it was reported that, overnight between Friday 7 and Saturday 8 July, a number of beach huts had been broken into near Viking Bay, Broadstairs.

“An investigation into the incidents is ongoing and anyone with information, or CCTV or dashcam footage which may assist, is urged to call Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/122226/23.”

Owners of huts in the area are advised not to leave anything of high value in them overnight and ensure they are left secure.

Anyone whose beach hut has been broken into and who has yet to speak to police is also urged to report it through the Kent Police website.
