Emergency services use line rescue equipment to assist person on Ramsgate cliff ledge

Emergency services were called to today (July 6) after reports of a person  over the railings and on a cliff edge in Ramsgate.

HM Coastguard Margate were tasked by UK Coastguard along with Deal HM Coastguard, Kent Fire and Rescue Line Rescue team and Kent Police just before 5pm to assist with an incident off St Augustine’s Road.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.58pm today to St Augustine’s Road, Ramsgate, following reports of a person needing assistance.

“Two fire engines and the line rescue team attended, and crews helped one person to safety, before they were passed into the care of SECAmb.”

Margate Coastguard said full line rescue equipment was deployed and the person was rescued safe and well.

They added: “It was a great bit of collaborative working between the emergency services.”

Services finished at the scene just after 6pm
