Broadstairs Information Kiosk team ready to open at new home

The team will be at the new kiosk site from tomorrow

The Broadstairs Information Kiosk opens tomorrow (July 1) at its new location, opposite Chandos Square and above the sheltered accommodation on the promenade.

The kiosk is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers who provide a warm welcome and information for visitors.

Broadstairs Information Kiosk was a pilot project launched in 2011 and from 2012 became a fully functioning operation supported by;

Shepherd Neame Brewery
Broadstairs Tourism and Leisure Association
Broadstairs and St. Peter’s Chamber of Commerce
Broadstairs and St. Peter’s Town Council.
Thanet District Council

It was based in the grounds of The Royal Albion but the lease with Shepherd Neame ended today (June 30) and that site will be now be used by the pub.

The new kiosk has been created thanks to a massive community effort to make sure the service continues.

Information kiosk manager Gina Harrison said: “Thank you to everyone who has helped us make the new kiosk possible. This includes David and Ralph of Grieves and Wife Roofing who purchased the kiosk for us; David Dorman of Dorman 4 Designs and John Elvidge who provided their professional services for the planning application; Seastay who helped with all the handyman jobs; TH Brickwork who moved the contents from the old kiosk to the new kiosk; Eagle Sheds for going above and beyond with their help with extras that we requested, and for the grants, sponsorship and donations to our fund raising.

“Lastly thank you to Shepherd Neame for allowing us use of the kiosk for the past twelve years.”

The kiosk is open 10am to 4pm every day, except the last two weeks in September and first three weeks in October when it is open Friday to Monday.
