Three Thanet friends have teamed up to bring their skills under one roof at Your Hair Hub in Ramsgate.
Jo Holden, Tara Pilcher and Sam Grounds opened the doors of the hub at the Marlowe Innovation Centre yesterday (June 26).
The trio, who all trained through the Keith Graham Academy to gain NVQ level 2 & 3 in hairdressing and have 10 years’ experience between them.
Mum-of-two Jo, from Ramsgate, and Sam, who also has two children and is from Minster, first met when Jo was teaching at the Keith Graham Academy. Sam was a student at the time. The pair bumped into each other some years later at a soft play centre where they discovered their daughters hit it off and a friendship begun. After a break from hairdressing Jo convinced Sam to get back in the game and the pair have worked together for the last four years.
Tara, from Margate, is mum to son Cameron and Sprout the dog. She has been freelance working in a one station salon but decided it was time to be part of a team again. She says she missed the hustle and bustle of the salon environment.
Tara and Jo completed their NVQ Level 3 together. They travelled to Folkestone at the time to complete the course and have been friends for more than 15 years.
Jo said: “I always wanted a salon of my own and when this opportunity arose I couldn’t miss it. I can’t wait to share the future of the salon with my two daughters.
“It has been all hands on deck (to get the hub ready) and we have used local and small businesses where possible.”
Tara is a Nano Ring Extension Specialist and Sam is a Keratin specialist. Jo has both styling and teaching experience.
