HM Coastguard Margate has issued a warning after receiving a report of a dangerous crack in cliffs at the North Foreland private estate.
Posting to social media, the coastguard says: “This morning HM Coastguard Margate received a message from one of our followers highlighting a dangerous crack in a cliff along our coastline. Please be aware when enjoying walks along the beach, cliff falls can happen at any time.
“If you do see any potential areas of safety concern we ask that you contact the local council to report and also stay away and do not walk underneath them.
“In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
Climate conditions, such as a period of heavy rain which seeps into the cliffs followed by cold nights, can freeze and crack the chalk and corrosion can lead to cliff falls..

Thanet isn’t an AONB though? Kentish Downs, yes. Thanet, no.
