Ramsgate residents are invited to raise a glass to toast 100 years of Ramsgate Carnival and help secure its future with a specially brewed Ramsgate Carnival beer from GADDS’ Brewery.
Ramsgate Carnival producer, Teresa Askew from Great British Carnival – a local ‘not for profit’ social action company – says GADDs Brewery is onboard for the special beer and there are plans to expand attractions over the carnival weekend.
She said: “The Ramsgate Carnival Committee are so delighted that GADDs’ Brewery is supporting Ramsgate Carnival this year and are going to help us brew a special, limited edition, ‘Ramsgate Carnival Beer’, where some money from each beer sold goes towards the costs of the carnival.
“Gadd’s will also run a Carnival Bar at the fair on Government Acre on 29 and 30 July. The carnival is a popular event in the town that really does bring the community together. One hundred years of Ramsgate Carnival deserves a special celebration.
“We plan to present a great carnival this year and lay solid foundations for the future. Outdoor events are covered by far more regulations than they used to be and our costs are going up all the time, so we have to find new ways to bring in the money needed to develop a top quality carnival, and we are aiming for the best in the South East.
“GADDS’ support is a great first step to finding new sponsors and new income, and hopefully other local businesses will follow their lead. So please do get in touch if you would like to get involved.
“We are aiming to build on and develop the market and fairground and add music and dance to the fair. We will also run workshops and community sessions in carnival arts for people who would like to take part but aren’t in a group and we will be encouraging all our regular entries to come back and entry forms will be online from the end of February. If our funding applications are successful, we hope to bring in some spectacular highlights, so watch this space.
“We hope Ramsgate will continue to support us and that people out enjoying themselves will try the Ramsgate Carnival beer. We expect it to be ready about a month before the carnival and hope you will raise a glass and toast Ramsgate Carnival past, present and future.”
