Lines closed after person hit by train between Dover Priory and Ramsgate

A person has been hit by a train between Dover Priory and Ramsgate.

All lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled or diverted until approximately 1pm.

Response staff and the emergency services are at the scene and the lines are blocked.

Trains are unable to run between Dover and Ramsgate.

Services between London St Pancras and Ramsgate via Dover will either start or finish their journey at Dover, or be diverted to run between Ashford and Ramsgate via Canterbury West.

Passengers can use the following Stagecoach Kent bus routes at no extra cost:

81 between Dover and Sandwich

45 between Sandwich and Ramsgate​​​​​​​

Passengers can also use Southeastern services between Dover Priory and Canterbury East, and then between Canterbury West & Ramsgate as an alternative route between Dover and Ramsgate.

UPDATE: Sadly the person involved has died. British Transport Police confirmed officers were called to the track near Sandwich this morning alongside paramedics. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Services are due to be restored imminently (as of 12.45pm).
