Bemix brings internship programmes to Thanet for people with learning disabilities and/or autism

Getting workplace skills with Bemix

An organisation that works with people with learning disabilities and/or autism to learn skills, gain qualifications and become more confident and independent is bringing internship schemes to Thanet.

Bemix, which is made up of people with and people without learning difficulties and autism, supports people to gain opportunities and become more independent in learning, housing, work, health, money, travel, leisure and relationships.

In September Bemix will run its Preparation for Employment and Supported Internship programmes to prepare people for the world of work.

A spokesperson said: “We are overjoyed to announce that both programmes will now be available to young people in the Thanet area.

“We will be working with people in Margate, Ramsgate and Broadstairs, and everywhere in between. This means our Supported Employment programmes are now available for people in Thanet, Medway, Swale, Canterbury and Gravesham.”

At Bemix you can:

Join a one year programme – Preparation for Employment

Building confidence and work-related skills before you start a Bemix Supported Employment placement.

Start a work placement – with Supported Employment

Young people will have a work coach to help through the programme and placement.
