Officers investigating reports of drugs being sent by postal services into Thanet from the USA have made an arrest.

Working with Border Force, a number of parcels containing a combined total of around four kilos of cannabis were recovered in December 2022.

As part of the investigation, a 40-year old woman from Margate was arrested on Thursday 5 January on suspicion of importing a controlled drug and possessing drugs with intent to supply.

A property in the town was searched the same day, resulting in officers seizing boxes and bags filled with cannabis. An estimated two kilos of the class B drug was recovered.

Sealable plastic bags, and other items believed to be linked to drug dealing were also found.

The woman has been bailed until a date in April pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Vanessa Law, of East Kent Criminal Investigation Department, said: “Kent Police is committed to tackling drug dealing, no matter what methods criminals use to bring illegal substances into the county.

“Working with partner agencies, we will continue to disrupt drug dealing networks at every opportunity.

“Anyone involved in the supply of illegal drugs by post, as a dealer, user or who assists in the process in any way, should know they face arrest, prosecution and a possible custodial sentence.”

  1. Another dangerous criminal off the streets, children saved from the reefer madness, the streets of Thanet are much safer now.

  2. I knew someone who did a ‘spliff’ once, it was horrible. They died jumping out a window, naked and masturbating. Throw the book at this woman.

  3. Don’t like someone? want them banged-up/out the way for a long time?
Post them a nice parcel then anonymously tip off the police?

Maybe not in this case, as why choose a class B?
Must just be a bit simple or smoked too much weed & has fried her brains.
Well done, good job for all agencies involved.

      • Do you think so? Most of the ones I’ve met don’t have do much exercise and constantly get “the munchies”, so are a bit on the podgy side. It’s different when they mix it with harder drugs of course.

    • Most people on harder drugs ,you those drugs ,all started off on waccy baacy, and moved on to stronger drugs for a bigger thrill, idiots

  4. The drug situation seriously needs looking at by a real Government not the Micky mouse one we have now. It’s not as if putting the offenders in prison deters them we are told there are more drugs available in prisons than there are on the outside. One often sees people going into pharmacies to get their medications presumably their methadone has been prescribed by doctors to stop them dealing with drug dealers. Why can’t they go and buy a packet of spliffs if that’s their preferred drug like they can other drugs like alcohol or tobacco. Bill
