Garlinge mum’s latest fundraising challenge for Cancer Research UK

Clarissa takes a fundraising dip

Thanet Slimming World consultant Clarissa Rolfe, from Garlinge, has completed a Boxing Day swim in her latest challenge to raise money for Cancer Research.

The mum-of-two, who has previously taken part in Walk the Walk and a cold water challenge for at least 30 seconds every day for a month, took the dip at Margate tidal pool, raising £525.

Clarissa said: “ Like many of us, cancer has touched my life. My dad is living with cancer and wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the research done into treatments.

“I enjoyed the March Cold Water Challenge, raising over £1,000 for Cancer Research, and I love dipping into my cold water barrel most days.

“I completed a Christmas swim on December 26 to raise money for Cancer Research UK. With donations from my friends, family and Slimming World members, we raised over £500.

“It’s amazing how my weight loss helped me to feel confident wearing a costume, and led to me being a Slimming World Consultant, helping members lose weight to then get sponsored by such wonderful people.”

Funds go to Cancer Research. Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further. Funding is vital for this work.
