A family-run restaurant in Westgate is teaming up with a grand guesthouse in the town and chefs from local businesses to launch a special series of events next year.

Finbar’s restaurant, owned by couple Alan Dolan and Kate Witherden and gaining local fame for its fresh seafood, will introduce The Chef Series in February and partners with West Bay House so that guests have an option to dine and then stay overnight.

The series will feature a guest chef menu paired with fine wines.

The couple say surviving covid and the cost of living crisis is down to loyal customers and finding ways to collaborate with others.

A Finbar’s spokesperson said: “Off the back of the pandemic, sadly many eateries were forced to close their doors, so inevitably what is left still standing are those businesses who have had the support of their local customers and returning guests, keeping them going through that tough time.

“Finbar’s certainly falls into that category and has developed into a popular place to meet, eat, celebrate and wind away those sunset evenings.

“The other way businesses have survived is by finding ways of supporting each other and developing new and exciting events and collaborations.

“Finbar’s is set for big things in 2023 with the introduction of The Chef Series.

“Teaming up with West Bay House means guests can dine and stay in Westgate and enjoy a weekend of sheer opulence, in lavish beachside surroundings.”

The Chef Series launches on February 24 and will run for one night only per month in February, March, April and May.

For the inaugural event Finbar’s has enlisted the skills of talented Danny Little, formerly of the Dog and Badger in Medmenham and now head chef at the Elderflower in Lymington. Danny is known for his “from field to fork” ethos and his upmarket but unpretentious style of cooking.

Tickets are on sale now for £95 per person.

Guests can extend their weekend with a one or two night stay with brunch at West Bay House just a minute’s walk from Finbar’s.

Priced from £180pn including luxury brunch, the house has nine en-suite bedrooms,  living room, media room, library, kitchen and a dining room leading to a large and private garden.
