Further strike action will affect Southeastern rail services this month and in January.

Southeastern says strike action will affect services on the network on:

December – Tuesday 13, Wednesday 14, Friday 16 and Saturday 17

January – Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, Friday 6 and Saturday 7

Further strike action by rail union RMT members will take place between 6pm on December 24 through to 5.59am on December 27. Trains do not generally run Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

RMT has decided today (November 6) to put a new offer from Network Rail to members in an electronic referendum with a recommendation to reject which will close next Monday, December 12 at noon.

The strike action is over job security, pay and conditions.

RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said it was unfortunate that that union had been compelled to take this action due to “the continuing intransigence of the employers.”

He added: “We remain available for talks in order to resolve these issues but we will not bow to pressure from the employers and the government to the detriment of our members.”

  1. Just sack the lot of them, if they don’t like the job go and get another, plenty of vacancies elsewhere, on the fields in hospitality,or could it be train drivers are living above their means.

  2. I have a friend who’s a train manager on HS1 , he was on £30k a year! He described it as Money for old rope !
