Santa in a helicopter, snowball fights and tank rides at Manston Christmas Cracker event

Santa will be meeting visitors at Manston

Tank and fire engine rides, Santa in a helicopter and a dedicated snowball fight area are some of the attractions on offer at the Manston Christmas Cracker event today (December 4).

Organised by RAF Manston History Museum with support from TrainforGroup, the event yesterday and today is being held in Hangar 3, Spitfire Way, Manston (just up from Polar Helicopter).

Other attractions include stalls, bouncy castles, outfits so you can take a 1940’s photo and the NAAFI wagon selling hot and cold snacks. There are also lucky dips and tombolas and lots of stalls to buy Christmas gifts.

Entry is free, some attractions need to be paid for. Rides on the airport runway in a tank or fire engine cost from £2.50.

There is also an opportunity for 66 people to take a short flight in a Bell 206L helicopter around Manston. Seats cost £25 per person and are on a first come first served basis. All proceeds go to Manston History Museum. Tickets go on sale from 10am and flights commence from 11:30am.

The Christmas Cracker event is open from 10am to 4pm.
