Hartsdown swimming pool earmarked for May 2023 reopening

Hartsdown pool reopening

The swimming pool at Hartsdown Leisure Centre in Margate is expected to reopen in May 2023 – more than a year after it was shut due to damage caused in Storm Eunice.

The storm in February this year resulted in roof damage at the pool building and this then “created further complex required works due to its construction.”

Operators Your Leisure have now confirmed work starts on site today (November 30).

A statement adds: “The current programme of works aims to be completed towards the end of April 2023 and therefore we will be looking at reopening the swimming pool in early May.

“Please accept our sincerest apologies for the timescales associated with the work required and we will be doing everything we can to maintain the programme schedule and will keep customers updated via our newsletters, social media and website.

“While the work is taking place the overflow car park will be closed for contractors use. We look forward to welcoming customers back to the swimming pool in due course.”

Your Leisure says affected members have had courses moved to other centres or subscription/membership frozen.

Swim School: Unless participants have moved to an alternative facility, those that have not transferred and been accommodated elsewhere have had their subscription frozen and these will only be reinstated once there is a re-opening date for the swimming pool.

Live Better Swim Members: Unless members have requested the reinstatement of their membership to use other facilities, these will have been frozen and will only be reinstated once there is a re-opening date.

All other memberships remain active due to other facilities continuing to remain open during this time.

  1. Nice to see there is finally some KCC/TDC money to actually help the community via exercise, weight loss, mental well being etc, as well as the obscene ammounts being thrown endlessly at modern art schools & centres-so people can learn how to draw stick people with John Holmes & Letha Weapons sized genitals/chests like Emin & her friends.

    • It probably needed to take that long to offset the cost of repairing the roof against the money saved from not heating the pool, chemicals, lifeguard’s wages etc.

  2. Brillant news, I will get my towel ready for the 1st of May. Great time to start a major roofing job. Who wants to be putting a new roof on, in the hottest and driest Summer for years? Well done.
