A massive crowd turned out to enjoy the Christmas light switch on and entertainment in Margate yesterday (November 26).
Santa greeted children, the cast of the MOS Dick Whittington panto took to the stag and there was signing and performance from a variety of local groups including Off The Hook, LA Dance, 1st Margate boys and girls brigade and more.
Margate’s mayor, deputy mayor and county councillor helped with the switch on while traders manned stalls around the square.
The event was put in place by Margate carnival organiser Jack Packman and wife Charlotte, of Silvers café/bar and dance school, with support from local businesses.
Entertainment included choirs Neptune, Hartsdown, Stargazers and Cantate.
A reception was held at Silvers in the High Street earlier in the day to say thank you to people who have gone the extra mile to provide services, events or activities for the community.
