Performances by East 17*, tribute acts for Abba, Robbie Williams and Taylor Swift, Westgate’s Ellie Golding and Thanet Stage School marked the flick of the switch for Westwood Cross’s Christmas lights.
There was also fun with the panto cast from the Marlowe Theatre, Santa and the elves and even the Grinch managed to crack a smile.
The big switch-on event was hosted by Thanet Academy FM and enjoyed by hundreds of people who flocked to the shopping centre for the festive fun.
The event also included a procession lead by Santa and the elves.
The Christmas decorations now illuminate the centre and Father Christmas and his Elf will be available to visit at selected times throughout the Christmas season.
