Get ready for the Westwood Cross Christmas light switch-on with East 17, Santa and The Grinch

The Grinch will join the line-up for the Christmas Light switch on at Westwood Cross today (November 18).

The Dr Seuss inspired character joins band East 17 for the free event which will include a procession, giveaways and a line up of tribute act performances through the decades. such as Abba, Taylor Swift, and Robbie Williams. There will also be panto stars and fun with Thanet Academy FM who are the event partners this year.

Visitors can head down to the centre early to join Father Christmas and his Elves in the festive procession and to get their hands on a variety of giveaways, including 50 gift bags and one special goody bag containing a surprise £50 voucher!

Francesca Donovan, Centre Manager at Westwood Cross, said: “Excitement is building in the centre about this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On. This is one of the best nights of the year and we’re looking forward to celebrating Christmas with the community. This year’s event is going to feature some incredible entertainment acts, free for everyone to enjoy!”

The Westwood Cross Christmas market also opens today.

Father Christmas and his Elf will be at the centre at selected times throughout the Christmas season, just make your way to the carousel, operating right up until the new year!

Westwood Cross will be celebrating the beginning of the festive season from 3:30pm-6.30pm today, with Father Christmas set to switch on the lights at 6pm.
