Project MotorHouse’s young photographers have been busy again this summer collecting stories about items treasured by some of the town’s over 55 volunteers.
It’s part of a project called Treasures and is a collaboration between Project MotorHouse and Ramsgate Radio for the Festival of Sound’s Sonic Trail.
The portraits of the community volunteers are on boards opposite the Arch Bar on Ramsgate harbour and the QR codes on the boards link to the interviews on Ramsgate Radio. The pictures will remain in place until the end of this month.
“I listened to Margaret’s story about what the polar bear means to her and it was so moving, it made me cry,” said harbour visitor Kate Pope.
Ryan Richards from Ramsgate Radio helped the youths record the interviews which were then edited by Ryan and Filipe Gomes. If you can’t get down to the harbour before the end of September, you can still listen to the interviews by going to the Ramsgate Radio website.
The Project MotorHouse’s young photographers were aged 12-14 and are all pupils at the Royal Harbour Academy. They worked under the guidance of photographer Tim Topple with assistance from Sam Beard, 18, who is now at Broadstairs College studying media. Sam developed his passion for photography participating in Project MotorHouse’s projects.
