Steel drummers, swirling swans, Percy the Pig and a host of colourful, fun and wacky characters all featured in the Margate Carnival today (August 7).
After a two year break due to covid, the event was back, processing from Palm Bay, along the seafront passing Turner Contemporary, the Old Town, and Dreamland, before ending at Westbrook.
Crowds of onlookers packed the route enjoying the show put on by dance groups, community and youth groups and clubs, businesses, individuals, carnival courts and more.
Fantastic photos! It looks terrific, I tried to get to see it so the pictures make up for it. 👏
Does anyone moan about the amount of slow moving vans causing pollution ?
Or do we forget about that because it’s a carnival ?
Yes people do moan and yes we forget it.
What a fantastic set of photo’s. Thank you ITN – on line for publishing. For the uninitiated ITN = Isle of Thanet News.
Wonderful to see Maurice….. A loyal Margate character. Give him the freedom of Margate sea front!
