Police appeal following attempted robbery by knife wielding man in Westgate

A knife wielding man who approached a Westgate shop worker is being hunted by police

Kent Police is appealing for witnesses following the attempted robbery on Friday (March 13).

The man reportedly  approached the shop worker in Station Road shortly before 6am. He then tried to gain entry to the shop before running off towards Norman Road. No serious injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as white, clean-shaven, about 5ft 11ins tall, of average build and with short dark hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a dark puffer jacket, black trousers with white lines down the sides and a black hat and scarf. He was also carrying a dark holdall.

Anyone who saw the incident or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the suspect is asked to call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/46935/20.
