Josh Ring, 18, will be returning for his second year after narrowly missing out on a title last year but coming away with a silver medal and Chloe Zannetti, 16, will be the club’s first female boxer to enter the contest this year.

Other competitors hoping to have their first trip to the box cup are David, Alfie and Rhys, all 15, Kieron, 22, and Callum, 25,

Boxers will travel from areas including Spain, Sweden, Scotland ,Ireland and Australia.

Club coach Maxine Butters said: “The boxers have been training very hard, doubling up sessions and doing extra strength conditioning work and runs. They have a great team of coaches from the Hornets Boxing Club training them and lots of support from their team mates.”

The club hopes to raise £1,000 towards transport, accommodation and entry costs.
