A clean up operation has taken place at Margate harbour today (February 17) to remove wrecked and damaged boats from the basin.

A mechanical digger was assisting in the operation by lifting parts of boats that were scattered across the sand. Only one vessel remains, the Island Girl, which can be seen hard up in the corner by Manning shell fish cabin.

Sadly her sails are now blowing ragged and torn in the light wind.

The damage follows both Storm Ciara and last weekend’s Storm Dennis which, between them, brought down trees, walls and damaged the roof of Screwfix in Pysons Road.
