Bag a bargain at East Kent Mencap’s big pre-loved clothes sale

Pre-loved clothes sale

East Kent Mencap’s next Pre-Loved Clothes Fair is taking place this Saturday (January 25).

Visit the charity’s Ramsgate Day Resource in Meeting Street and have a rummage through the array of pre-loved clothes the charity has had donated.

Research has found that there is a collective £13 billion worth of unwanted clothing in the cupboards and wardrobes of the UK, with women owning on average 13 items they no longer want, need or fit into. The average British woman has £504 worth of unwanted clothing at home.

Pre-loved clothes fairs provide the opportunity for people to clear out their unwanted clothing so someone else can use it, as well as the chance to bag a bargain which they will use, all in the name of charity.

The fundraising team at East Kent Mencap have thanked the public, staff and supporters who have donated high-quality clothing for the fair, including many brand new items still with tags on and designer pieces.

Women’s and men’s clothes will be available at the fair, including tops, dresses, skirts, trousers, jumpers, cardigans, coats, shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes, bags and accessories.

The fair is open 10am – midday at the charity’s Ramsgate Day Resource.

All proceeds go to East Kent Mencap to help support people with a learning disability.

It is £5 to enter and for that fee people can choose a bag of clothes to take home. Entry includes the first bag of clothes, a second bag of clothes is £3. Pay on the door. Bags will be provided.

There will be refreshments available and a raffle. Unfortunately the charity does not have a card machine, so please bring cash.
