Remembrance Day 2019: Thanet falls silent for those who paid the ultimate sacrifice

Remembrance services were held across the isle today (November 10) for people to commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

In poignant scenes across the district, crowds fell silent at 11am to pay their respects.

    • The words “Happy New Year” was broadcast over the tannoy along with the sound of 12 chimes (for midnight).
