More than 50 standards expected for RBL Festival of Remembrance in Margate

RBL Festival of Remembrance

The Royal British Legion leads a Festival of Remembrance in Margate on Friday, October 18.

The event at the Winter Gardens will be joined by more than 50 standard bearers, a representative and standard for the national RBL, the county chairman and county standard, the Lord Lieutenant of Kent and Thanet’s two MPs.

At last year’s Isle of Thanet remembrance festival committee chairman Aussie Walker MBE received a presentation for his two decades of service to the event.

Aussie sadly passed away in May this year, just six months after losing wife June. Peter Steele is his successor on the committee.

The festival starts at 7.15pm.

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

Tickets are price at £9/£8/£7.
