Newington mums and toddlers raise cash for Macmillan cancer charity

Fun and cakes in aid of charity at Newington

A cheery cuppa and friendly chat created a lively fundraising morning for the mum and toddler group at Newington Community Primary School in Ramsgate.

They were supporting this year’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which is run nationwide by the Macmillan cancer charity.

The school was decked out in colourful bunting and there was an array of tasty home-made cakes and buns on sale.

The school’s family liaison officer Julie Marks organised the event. She said: “We enjoyed a lovely get together in aid of an extremely good cause at one of our regular mum and toddler group sessions.

“We had many cakes donated that ranged from homemade to shop bought,  chocolate to coffee and many yummy flavours in between.

“Thanks go to Jo Ellis and Elaine Williams for the fabulous cakes they made for us to raffle for this very worthwhile cause which is very close to the staff and families of our school. We raised £264.17 and congratulations go to everyone that helped on the day, everyone who made cakes and everyone who turned up to support us.”

Head Teacher Cliff Stokes said: “Macmillan is one of the many charity and community causes that we support throughout the year. The event went very well and the cakes were delicious.”

The school’s toddler group meets every Wednesday in term time from 9am to 10.30am.
