Firefighters are taking part in this year’s Pilgrim’s Hospice 5k colour run in memory of watch manager Dave Halls who died earlier this year.
The poignant event on Sunday, October 20, will see the Ramsgate crew get colourful as they make their way, walking or jogging, around part of the Thanet coast.
Firefighter Brett Andrews says they want to give something back to Pilgrim’s Hospice to say thank you for the wonderful palliative care given to Mr Halls earlier this year.
“We felt this fun and colourful event would be a perfect way to reflect Dave’s memory and gain funds and awareness for the charity that cared for Dave when he needed it most, as well as his family,” he added.
Karen Kenward, community fundraising manager and organiser of the event, said: “This really is a fun event; with a Zumba warm up, followed by lots of colour prior to the start and, even more colour as you run, walk or jog through colour stations along the coastal route.
“Everyone receives a colour sachet, white t-shirt, funky glasses on the day and a stunning colour run medal at the finish.
“If you would like to join this event; waste no time and sign up today.
“You will have fun and laughter all the way and knowing that you will be helping provide care for the next person that needs us, will make this even more special.”
The charity’s 5k Colour Run starts at The Oval, Cliftonville in Margate.
